Yes that's right, weighted vests/ankle weights REGARDLESS of the resistance is bad to use for sprinting.
Ankle weights I have addressed that they emphasis a pulling motion, when sprinting is a pushing dominant activity (although some pulling is done in max velocity), but that is not the reason why I am writing to say they are bad to use.
Weighted vests is more the deal in this thread, putting resistance ON the body by making yourself heavier = drop in hip height. Same thing applies in ankle weights, something pulling you down is detrimental to biomechanics.
Are weighted vests and ankle weights good to use in some things? Yes! Drills such as the A's drills for extra strengthening the hip flexors and hip extensors is not a bad idea. Supplementary if anything. So keep to GPP.
